AREAS OF FOCUS

  • Each person's experience of life transitions is unique, and individuals may respond to these changes in different ways. Some transitions are anticipated and planned, while others may be unexpected, requiring resilience and adaptation. The ability to navigate life transitions successfully often involves a combination of coping skills, support systems, and a willingness to embrace change.

  • Identity can be fluid and can evolve over time based on experiences, interactions, and self-discovery. It plays a crucial role in shaping how individuals perceive themselves and how they relate to the world around them. Some areas we may explore are race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical attributes, personality, political affiliations, religious beliefs, and professional identity amongst many others.

  • Platonic and intimate relationships can be a major source of stress in our lives. Belonging and connectedness is at the core of what makes us human but sometimes we have a hard time setting boundaries, communicating, or navigating conflict. Important relationships we may explore include romantic, family, friendships, partnerships, and work.

  • Body image is a complex and multifaceted aspect of self-perception that can impact a person's mental and emotional well-being. Your mental picture of your body includes your physical characteristics and your attitude toward these characteristics. Your body is home for your mind and sensations so we focus on tuning into your felt sense and beliefs about your own appearance. We work to develop a healthy body image, foster self-acceptance, challenge unrealistic standards, and develop a positive relationship with one's body.

  • Bodies are resilient and made to heal, yet sometimes life gets in the way and we become overwhelmed. Stress manifests in physical and emotional ways that can be helpful if harnessed properly. Stress causes the body to react by releasing hormones that increase heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, and sometimes tension. With the right tools, this energy can be used to achieve optimal performance and connection, however, without the right tools long-term stress can interfere with daily functioning and increase health problems.

  • Your values, beliefs, and personal interests are influenced by your environment and things you are familiar with. Cultural impact acknowledges your unique upbringing to look at how culture has helped shape your identity, worldviews, and social connections.

  • Perfectionism is a personality trait characterized by the pursuit of high standards, procrastination, difficulty delegating, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong desire. This can be associated with high self criticism and the importance you place on others' evaluations. This creates unattainable ideals or unrealistic goals that often lead to anxiety and low self-esteem.

  • Trauma refers to an emotional, psychological, or physical response to an event or series of events that is distressing or harmful. These events often exceed an individual's ability to cope and may lead to a lasting impact on their mental and emotional well-being. It's important to note that individuals respond to trauma differently, and the impact can vary widely.

IN THE COMMUNITY Jessenia is passionate about creating spaces that feel comfortable and welcoming, a dwelling for the spirit. She actively practices self-care & on her time off you can find her in a yoga or pilates class, body building, spending time with her baby niece, or planning for her next adventure. She loves checking out local coffee shops, exploring different cities and getting lost in a great book.

THROUGH WORKSHOPS Jessenia adapts topics and specialties from her practice into dynamic presentations, talks and workshops to have real discussions about what truly matters. Jess is experienced in leading yoga classes for wellness retreats, self-care and professional development in higher education, and other wellness related events.
